Very frequently we are asked is it too cold to paint or too hot to paint. As a
general guideline most paints work best at 50% relative humidity and 70
degrees. Manhattan, KS doesn't have those conditions too often so use
this guide:
Exterior work under 90 degree surface temperature. Don't paint in the sun!
In colder months standard paints should not be applied under 50 deg or
when the temp falls below 50 within 12 hours.
New low temp products A.K.A. Acri-shield LTC and Permanizer can take an
overnight low of 35 degrees!
The humidity level should be at least 5 degrees above the dew point, to
prevent condensation on the fresh paint film.
