August in Kansas - what can you say? Hottest month of the year and a hard time to paint the
exterior. Unfortunately this is the time most people can take off to get the job done.

So what do you do? Put it off? Find some interior work to do?
Here is a plan: Start your painting early in the morning - literally at the crack of dawn. Shut down
when your surface temperature gets over 90. You can get a few more hours in the evening.
Watch the dew point! We need to watch the trend and keep at least 5 degrees away from the dew
point. Humidity in the air will condense on your paint and can cause some problems. Don't paint
with a thunderstorm coming in a few hours.

New products - now stocking Super Deck from Duckback. Duckback makes a great line of
exterior stains for your deck. The transparent stain is very much like our Cabot Australian Timber
Oil. Tung and Linseed Oil with Alkyd give excellent results when combined with Trans-oxide
pigments. There isn't a better combination for Kansas sun!

August news: Porter/Pittsburgh rebate program will be on in September! Last shot of the year!
That means premium products for interior and exterior will be offered at up to $6/gal rebate, with
a maximum rebate of 10 gallons per person/address.
